UCWbLing is a weblog created by writers for writers, no matter what they are interested in or where they are coming from.
Building on the mission and values of the Writing Center at DePaul University (previously known as the UCWbL), UCWbLing provides a space to share resources, develop ideas, announce and reflect on written communication, and debate topics about writing.
As such, the UCWbLing encourages and appreciates active participation by any and all readers, writers, instructors, and researchers. However, only tutors who work in the DePaul Writing Center can write for UCWbLing.
In addition to these broader goals, UCWbLing provides you a place to share and reflect on your own work as Peer Writing Tutor. You may answer questions that writers have—and questions writers might not even know they have.
Not only does the Writing Center hope that writers find useful and compelling content on UCWbLing, but it also invites instructors and researchers of writing to join its community.
The Writing Center promotes and supports all that its Peer Writing Tutor do: writing, thinking, collaborating, teaching, learning, and—of course—blogging.
Knowing what the goals of UCWbLing are and who the intended audience is can help you rhetorically situate yourself to convey the information you want. The Writing Center believes standardizing the editorial process will help you as you draft posts, as well as boost UCWbLing’s ethos.
This style guide takes into consideration several points, including accessibility, inclusion, and finer technical details, to bring the best experience to all those who visit UCWbLing.

Thus, in writing and publishing this guide, the Writing Center aims to be open about and further develop values, practices, and future goals, so that UCWbLing may continue growing its online presence and practices.
